What does XENTRY Pass Thru EU offer?

In short, XENTRY Pass Thru EU is the diagnostic software for the standard PC. Explicitly for independent operators in accordance with EC regulations (715/2007, 692/2008, 595/2009, 582/2011, 64/2012 and 2018/858). In order to process your request as quickly as possible, we need proof of whether you belong to the authorized group of persons (car workshop or other company that deals with vehicle repairs). This requires the upload of relevant documents (e.B trade license, commercial register entry, proof of professional qualification in the motor vehicle trade, or another official document proving the purpose of the business).

Functionality and diagnostic scope of XENTRY Pass Thru EU

Almost full diagnostic scope (short test, basic diagnosis, flashing & coding of ECUs, error memory read/delete, guided and functional diagnostics) with the exception of technical restrictions due to the Pass Thru devices:

  • Short test and functional diagnostics (single-channel, thus longer runtime)

  • Basic diagnosis (only in XENTRY Diagnosis)

  • Commissioning incl. flashing, coding, parameterization

  • Diagnostics available for:
    — all Euro 5 or 6 certified passenger car series (Mercedes-Benz and smart), please note the note below on DoIP
    — all Euro 5 or 6 certified van series (Mercedes-Benz), please note the note below for DoIP
    — all purely battery powered electric vehicles (BEVs) (Mercedes-Benz), please see the note below about DoIP

  • XENTRY Flash available for all Euro 5 and 6 certified series, as well as purely battery powered electric vehicles (BEVs)

  • Symptom processing via standardized symptoms

  • Diagnosis over IP (Ethernet) "DoIP" basically possible if the Pass Thru device supports DoIP; otherwise no flashing of head unit and instrument cluster for current passenger car and van series up to the introduction of BR 206 and BR 223

For pure DoIP series (with the introduction of the BR 206 and BR 223 series), these DoIP adapters can be used:

These adapters have been tested by Mercedes-Benz AG and may only be used for DoIP vehicles in conjunction with XENTRY Pass Thru. Mercedes-Benz AG assumes no liability for all other adapters.

For non-pure DoIP series, we recommend the following Pass Thru-enabled devices:

– Actia Passthru+ XS 2G
– Bosch KTS 560
– ADIS Technology EURO VCI

The Pass Thru device must always meet the Pass Thru standard and can be purchased in free trade.

Please note:

XENTRY Pass Thru EU does not support series and models other than those mentioned above. If you need the complete diagnosis of all series and models, we would like to point out the use of the standard diagnostic solution XENTRY Diagnosis Kit 4.

A XENTRY Pass Thru EU contract runs for one year and can then be extended by one year by paying an annual usage fee.

And what are the system requirements?

Prerequisite for the use of XENTRY Pass Thru EU is a special, hardware-dependent StartKey.

You can order this after installing the basic setup (via download link in Mercedes-Benz B2B Connect). The hardware ID required for the StartKey order can be read out via the "ConfigAssist" tool under "System Data".

By the way: The StartKey also allows you to use the device (e.B. laptop) determined when ordering via the unique hardware ID to execute the diagnostic application.

Also important:

  • Administrator rights for installation and updates

  • Personalized login incl. standard diagnosis right (compulsory login procedure)

  • Windows compatible PC or Laptop with Intel i5 processor or better, or similar type

  • Operating system: Windows 10 (64 Bit) or Windows 11 (64 Bit)

  • Minimum of 8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended)

  • Minimum of 150 GB free HDD, Solid State Drive (SSD) recommended (for performance and mechanical robustness)

  • Browser: Edge for Windows

  • One USB 3.0 port to connect XENTRY Diagnosis VCI via USB cable

  • One free USB port for the WiFi stick for wireless communication between diagnosis PC and VCI

  • Broadband Internet access via LAN/WiFi

  • Microsoft .NET 4.0 (or higher) installed (http://www.microsoft.com)

  • Several URLs and Ports unlocked in the local or network firewall / proxy (see table below)

Did you know?

A credit unit after the end of the diagnostic session or after changing the vehicle continues to run until it is used up. In addition, time credits purchased in error or no longer needed cannot be returned or refunded. In addition, time credits that have not been used up or not opened cannot be refunded at the end of the contract. However, in the event of a contract extension, the transfer is possible.

Your Instructions for Use

If you want to use the diagnostic content, you need a permanent online connection

  • for the retrieval of diagnostic data (per diagnostic session)

  • for checking access authorization to data content (StartKey)

  • for the verification of contract data

Further requirements:

The following URLs and ports must be enabled for a XENTRY Diagnosis Open Shell system in the firewall or in the proxy server. Please speak to your IT administrator and ensure that everything has been enabled.

IMPORTANT - New binding registration procedure from 2021

Our new security concept secures access to and use of the XENTRY Diagnosis software in two stages:

Level 1: Since Release 03/2021 you have to log in with your personal user ID and password.

Level 2: From 15 March 2022, you will also need the standard diagnostic role.
You can apply for this via the UMAS platform.

Prerequisite: You have successfully completed the identification procedure. You can also start this via UMAS, unless a local identification procedure is used in your market.

You can get your role via the corresponding button on the platform. Basically, you only have to go through the identification process via UMAS/IDnow once .

With Release 06/2020, a strict security concept has been implemented to secure diagnostic access and backend services. Since then, a personalized login has been required for the 213 Facelift 2020 and 223 passenger car series.

This security level applies to all brands and divisions, i.e. all diagnostic users must personally register with the diagnostic device. As a result, anonymous access to vehicles and backend services is no longer possible.

From 15 March 2022, you will generally need the standard diagnostic role for all diagnostic activities. For ECU commissioning from series 213 facelift 2020 and 223, the new extended XENTRY flash roll is necessary.

The respective rights are assigned as follows:

1. XENTRY Standard Diagnostic Rights:

Each diagnostic user must independently apply for the standard diagnostic right via https://umas.mercedes-benz.com/umas and carry out the one-time identification. If you as an Independent Service Provider do not yet have a User ID, you can apply for it via the following link: https://umas.mercedes-benz.com/orgprocess/

Please select the item "New registration" if you are not yet registered as a Mercedes-Benz Group AG customer. Or you can select "Registered Organization" if your organization is a registered customer but you do not yet have a User ID.

Please contact your local IT administrator. Alternatively, you can contact support via the support button on the far right of the UMAS page (headset icon).

2. XENTRY Flash Rights:

Both XENTRY Flash-roles (Standard-Flash role and Extended Flash role for alle CeBAS vehicles) can be applied via UMAS.
Each user must independently carry out a one-time identification via UMAS to get the Flash roles.
